Autostart macro failed error 999 in OpenLAB CDS ChemStation

Created by Agilent Agilent over 2 years ago | Last modified by kristen.sensabaugh kristen.sensabaugh over 2 years ago

Autostart Macro failed, error# 999 occurred (OpenLAB CDS Chemstation Rev. C.0x.0x)

This is usually resolved by resetting the instrument configuration files in the instrument folder (\Chem32\x\, where x is the number of the instrument in question).

Append .old to these files with all sessions (online and offline) of ChemStation turned off:

config.reg

ChemStationPerInstrumentSettings.config

instrument.config

RapidControl.InstrumentConfig.xml

After modification, the files will read:

config.reg.OLD

ChemStationPerInstrumentSettings.config.OLD

instrument.config.OLD

RapidControl.InstrumentConfig.xml.OLD

Start ChemStation again and the problem should be resolved.

    Thanks, James.

    I ran into the "Autostart Macro failed, error# 17928 occurred" and then Chemstation opened up to the "Data Analysis" window.  I switched the view to the "Method and Run Control" window, closed Chemstation and then reopened it.  I did not received the error when it reopened.  I am not sure why but it seems like it needs to be closed from the "Method and Run Control" window or an Autostart error appears upon reopening.

    Erik

    Hi Erik,

    This depends on the version of G2070AA or BA. The below may help.

    The Autostart Macro failed, error# 999 occurs on startup of the Chemstation if

    the Initial Screen Window Size is set to “Icon” in the Configuration editor.

    In the PCS section of the ChemStation.ini, the WinSize setting will be

    specified

    as WinSize=Min.

    Situation:

    The Initial Screen Window Size can be changed randomly if the Initial Screen

    Window Size is set to Normal and then the Chemstation is closed when iconized

    in the taskbar. The Chemstation.ini will have the WinSize value = Min and when

    the Chemstation is started, the error occurs. If the Chemstation is closed

    when the ChemStation window is maximized, then the WinSize key will be

    set to Normal and no errors occur on start up.

    So, if the ChemStation is iconized to the taskbar and the user right-clicks on

    the icon to close the chemstation, the autostart Macro Failed, error# 999 will

    occur when starting the Chemstation.

    Solution/Action:

    In Chemstation.ini, if the WinSize value = Min, change the value to Normal

    before starting the Chemstation.

    [PCS,1]

    InstType=gcoffline

    InstName=Instrument 1

    WinSize=Normal

    Use the Configuration Editor to set the Initial Screen Window Size to Normal.

    I hope this helps

    Thanks for this thread.  I am seeing a similar error with Chemstation A versions for 6890 GCs?  Which files would I need to append old to in the older version and would this effect any embedded post-processing software such as simdis software?

    Thanks,

    Erik
