Resetting a Tune file to default 5977 MSD

The usual locations of the tune files do not apply with the 5977. If you suspect you have a corrupted tune file and you need to reset, rename the tune file in D:\Masshunter\GCMS\1\5977 to atune.old, or the appropriate tune to .old .

 

A fresh tune is located under C:\GCMS\MSSETUP\5977 . You will find the tune there as atune.u etc. The tune file needs the polarity set by opening manual tune and saving the tune file with the proper polarity.

 

Atune.nu and atune.pu no longer exist.

  • For MassHunter 13 some locations have changed.

    Rather than default tune files being stored in C:\GCMS\MSSETUP\5977 the files have moved to C:\Program Files (x86)\Agilent\MassHunter\GCMS\mssetup\5977

    Additionally, the location where tune files has changed slightly. In older versions of the software the instrument numbers were always 1, 2, 3, or 4. However in MH 13 this is no longer true. Instead of navigating to the path in Windows Explorer, instead launch OpenLab Control Panel, then select the instrument, and click the Show Instrument Files button in the ribbon. This will open the instrument folder. Navigate into the 5977 folder and paste the tune file.
