Cleaning ICP MS 7900

1) at the start of the day you insert the carrier solution and internal standard tubes into a bottle of 5%, and just let it run for a few minutes. Turn up the peri pump speed to help.

Here is the Boron rinse solution.

0.5g EDTA (as the  acid not Na salt)
0.2g Triton X-100
15g NH4OH
20g H2O2 & make up to
250 mL with water. Dilute 1:10 in DI water for the final rinse  solution.

Are you using the inert sample introduction parts?  Boron is in all the glass/quartz sample introduction pieces and will leach out while you run.  Depending on how low you want to see B, you may need to switch to inert sample intro.

Hello, thank you for your help. To understand for me. to point 1: I'm just supposed to swap out Carrier Solution and my internal standard tube for a 5% HNO3, right? then I go to my software MassHunter and click the Nebuliazier pump speed to o.5? Or where do I need to set this? After a few minutes rinse, do I have to rinse again with 1% HNO3? I am very grateful for any help. I have been dealing with ICP MS for a short time.

This solution will be in one of the big 250 mL bottles in the middle rack.  You will set it up in the Batch on Sample introduction tab on MassHunter version 5.X or on the Peripump/ISIS tab in MassHunter 4.X.  Set up as Rinse 1, or Rinse 2 depending on weither you have other Rinses already setup.  Set a rinse time, set speed to 0.3rps, and tell it the position you put it into.
