Put your Single Quadrupole LC/MS Instrument into Standby Using OpenLab CDS

Issue

Instructions for putting your LC/MS instrument into Standby mode after you have finished analysis.

Requirements

The LC/MS should have finished all analysis in the sequence.

Steps to Follow

1. From the top ribbon, in the Home tab, click Method > Instrument Status.

2. If necessary, in the Instrument section of the ribbon, click Take to acquire control of the instrument. In Figure 2, Take is already selected.

3.  In the Instrument Status window, click the SQ tab.

4. Right-clicking in the SQ window brings up a shortcut menu. Select Standby to put the instrument into Standby mode. The ribbon on the SQ window will change color to indicate the change in mode.

When in Standby mode, the LC/MS is held in the following conditions:

• The MS is in Standby mode and is not ready to run.
• Quad Temperature is set to 100 °C.
• Drying gas heater temperature is set to 300 °C.
• Nebulizer pressure is set to 20 psig.
• Drying gas flow is set to three Standard Litres/Minute (SLPM) nitrogen.
• 'Stream' Selector valve set to LC-> Waste
• If an APCI source is installed, vaporizer gas temperature is set to 325 °C.
• If an APPI source is installed, you can turn the APPI lamp on or off
