Update Database Group Path in Spectroscopy Configuration Manager (SCM)

Issue

It is necessary to add a database to a group path in SCM after creating a new database in Spectroscopy Database Administrator (SDA). If access to an older database is no longer needed by the group, remove the database on the Server and Database Selection page. This will keep users from saving data to the incorrect database location. If archiving the database, remove the database from the group path in SCM before detaching it in SDA.

Requirements

Any of the following software products must be installed: SpectrAA CFR, ICP Expert CFR, WinUV CFR, and MicroLab PC CFR. 

Steps to Follow

1. Open Configuration Manager.
   1. Double-click the Configuration Manager icon on the desktop (Figure 1).

   2. Enter the credentials of an SCM user who is an SCM administrator (Figure 2).

2. Add the Database to the Group Path. In the following example, the Group 1 path will be modified. 
   1. From the left panel, click the Groups icon (Figure 3; Item 1). 
   2. Right-click the group name that needs to be modified (Figure 3: Item 2) and from the contextual menu, click Edit... (Figure 3; Item 3).

   3. On the Edit Group dialog box, click the folder icon (Figure 4).

   4. On the Server and Database Selection dialog box, expand the server (Figure 5; Item 1), and highlight the new database (Figure 5; Item 2).
   5. Click the >> button to add the database to the group path (Figure 5; Item 3).

   6. The newly added database will now show in the right window (Figure 6; Item 1).
   7. Click OK (Figure 6; Item 2).

   8. Click Yes in the Create Directory dialog box (Figure 7).

      Tips: It is possible for a Group to have access to multiple attached databases at a time. If no other changes to the group path are needed, skip to step 4. If access to an older database is no longer needed by the group, remove the database on the Server and Database Selection page. This will keep users from saving data to the incorrect database location. If archiving the database, remove the database from the group path in SCM before detaching it in SDA. See step 3 for instructions to remove a database from the group path.

3. Remove a Database from the Group Path.
   1. On the Server and Database Selection dialog box, select the database from the server in the right pane (Figure 8; Item 1).
   2. Click the << button to remove the database from the list (Figure 8; Item 2).
   3. Click OK (Figure 8; Item 3).

   4. If needed, the removed database can now be detached in SDA and archived using Windows file explorer. 
      

      Caution: Do not move, rename, or delete a database without first detaching the database in SDA. Failure to detach first will result in software errors, making the software unusable, and will need to be resolved by an Agilent Service Representative.

4. Review and save changes.
   1. In the Edit Group window, review the new group path (Figure 9).
   2. Click OK (Figure 9).

   3. Press F5 on the keyboard to refresh the page.
5. Close SCM.
   1. From the top menu bar, Click File > Quit (Figure 10).

   2. iIn the ConfigManager.exe dialog box, click the Yes button (Figure 11).
