"Failed to Generate Report" Error When Creating a PDF Report on the 2100 Bioanalyzer

This Information Applies To: 2100 Bioanalyzer system, 2100 Expert software version B.02.08 or later

Issue

When printing a report to PDF or HTML with the 2100 Expert software, the error "Failed to Generate Report" appears.

Background

This error can appear because certain margins are not compatible with the document printer (Figure 1).

Steps to Follow

Modify the printer margin settings in the 2100 Expert software

1. Click File > Page Setup....
2. Set the margins to 0.5 each and click OK.
3. Make sure that the Paper size is Letter and Source is Automatically Select (Figure 2).

Configure the Microsoft XPS Document Writer Printing Preferences

1. Search for and select Printers & scanners in the Windows search box.
2. In the list of printers and scanners select Microsoft XPS Document Writer and click Manage (Figure 3).

3. In the menu on, the left side click Printer preferences.
4. In the layout tab, select the Orientation: Portrait.
5. Click advanced and in the Paper/Output > Paper Size menu, select: Letter (Figure 4).
