Issue
Agilent 2100 Expert Software gives the error "Automation Error. The remote call procedure failed" upon launch (Figure 1).

Resolution
Automation errors are rather generic. Remote procedure call failed error relates to a Windows component and the root cause can be of different nature. Typically, such error occurs upon software launch as it tries to rename a corrupted file, but fails.

Caution: Back up your data before software reinstallation.

Software reinstallation under administrative rights can resolve the issue. However, before proceeding with software reinstall, generate support package from the computer. Click Start menu > Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer > Create Support Package > .Zip folder (Figure 2) and send it to your local Agilent customer support to verify the root cause and suggestions for next step.
