"The Requested Operation Requires Elevation" Error When Launching the Bioanalyzer Software

This Information Applies To: Agilent 2100 Expert software, 2100 Expert Security Pack, 2100 Bioanalyzer 

Issue

When opening the 2100 Expert software and using the Security Pack, the error message "Start of launcher application failed - The requested operation requires elevation" appears.

Background

 This error appears for both to users and administrators, making it impossible to log on to the 2100 Expert software (Figure 1).

Resolution

. To ensure proper functionality of the Expert Launcher, set up the correct Expert Launcher properties:

1. Log on to the PC with the generic user account (2100system).
2. Navigate to C:\Program files (x86)\ Agilent\2100 Bioanalyzer\2100 Expert\bin and search for ExpertLauncher.
3. Right click the ExpertLauncher.exe and select Properties.
4. Select the Compatibility tab.
5. Click Change settings for all users (Figure 2).

6. Clear Run this program as an administrator as shown in the red square (Figure 3).
7. Select Apply and log out of the 2100system PC user account.
8. You may need to first select this check box, click Apply, and then clear the check box and click Apply again so that the settings are applied for all users.
