Subscribing to Areas of the Agilent Community

The Agilent Community offers different ways to subscribe to email notifications for new content and activity within a group.

Joining a Group and Forum Notifications

When you are logged in and navigate to a group there is an option to Join the group with a button on the right hand side of the page as well as a clickable banner at the bottom of the screen.

Joining a group is required to post and participate within the group, but it also enables certain emails. After joining a group you are automatically subscribed to receive emails for all new forum posts and replies within the group. You are not automatically subscribed to receive emails for anything else within the group like Announcements, Files, Videos, or Wikis.  To receive email alerts about activity for the other parts of group outside of the forum, read the Email Digest section below.

The automatic forum email subscription can be disabled by clicking the Turn Forum notifications off button on the right side of the forum landing page within the group.

You can also disable the automatic forum email subscription by going to your user settings, clicking the Subscriptions tab, clicking Unsubscribe for the forum you want to opt out of emails for, then clicking the Save button at the bottom.

Email Digest for all Group Activity

Each group offers an email digest that consolidates all activity for everything that happens within a group.  Unlike the forum notifications discussed above, the digest will include all new content, comments, replies, and any other activity that happens for all of the content types available within the group.  For example, if a group contains a forum, a wiki, an announcement section, files, and videos, the digest for the group will include all activity that takes place for all of these subsections.  The group email digest can be sent either daily or weekly.  To enable the email digest, navigate to the group you are interested (ex: Liquid Chromatography) then click the Email digest options button that appears on the top right of the group landing page.  Please note you must be logged in to see this.  You are not required to join the group to receive an email digest.

Next, click the Frequency drop down box in the popup window and select either Daily or Weekly followed by the Save button. You should now receive emails for any new content or activity across the group.

You can change your digest between Daily, Weekly, and Not Subscribed at any time with the same process.  These settings can also be adjusted by going to your user settings, clicking the Email Digest tab, clicking the Frequency drop down box according to your preference and clicking the Save button at the bottom.  The email digests options appear on this screen for all groups you are a member of.  If you are subscribed to an email digest for a group you have not joined on the bottom half of the screen under Other Group Subscriptions.
