7697A Headspace Sampler Transfer line Connection to 7890B GC

Normally the connection is done through the ethernet ports of the devices. So all you need is a LAN-switch and 2 LAN cables.

Which chromatographic system are you using? If if is MassHunter, you can enter the IP addresses in the Agilent GCMS Configuration Launcher and accordingly at the GC/HS using the devices keyboard under Options/Communications.

My question is not about electronic connections. I'm trying to determine how the transfer line from the headspace sampler attaches to the inlet of the GC to transport the sample from the sampler to the GC. 

Hi gobirding - a couple of questions.

What type of GC inlet are you intending to connect the headspace sampler to? Transfer line installation will depend on the type of GC inlet, refer to the 7697A Headspace Sampler Maintenance Manual, starting on page 50.

The GC is a 7890B. Our intention is to do headspace sampling only using the 7697A Headspace Sampler. The connection in question is the transfer line to the primary inlet of the GC. We do not have an autosampler for liquid samples on the system. We do not intend to do liquid injections at this point. If we do, we will inject using a syringe with the inlet configured for that purpose.

I want to know how to connect the terminal end of the headspace transfer line to the primary inlet of the GC.

The situation is explained in the original post. I don't know how to express it better than that. With the "answers" I'm getting, I wonder if I need to include pictures.
