Where to Check Hours on UV Lamp for Agilent UV Detectors?

This Information Applies To: Agilent UV detectors (Variable Wavelength Detectors, Multiple Wavelength Detectors, and Diode Array Detectors)

Issue

Checking accumulated hours on the UV lamp.

Steps to Follow

There are four ways to check the accumulated hours on the UV lamp.

• Chromatography Data System software (OpenLab ChemStation, OpenLab CDS, MassHunter, OpenLab EZChrom, etc.). It only applies for UV lamps with RFID tag.
• Lab Advisor
• Instant Pilot
• Infinity LC Companion

Chromatography Data System software

1. Go to Instrument Status > Hover the mouse to the RFID tag on the UV lamp.
2. Burn time is the accumulated hours of this UV lamp. Figure 1 is an example of OpenLab CDS software.

   Caution: Power off the detector before replacing a lamp to avoid UV exposure. When using lamps with an RFID tag, the burn time counter will update when the detector module is next power cycled.

Lab Advisor

1. Connect HPLC in Lab Advisor. See articles on Installing and adding a new system to Lab Advisor if required.
2. Go to EMFs.
3. Accumulated UV Lamp On-Time is reported under the UV detector.
   1. The reset counter icon is not available when the installed UV lamp has an RFID tag (Figure 2).
   2. On the other hand, the reset counter icon is available for non-RFID tag UV lamps. Remember to reset the hours after replacing the UV lamp.

Instant Pilot

1. Switch off the UV detector or any module that has an extra CAN port.
2. Connect the module to Instant Pilot. Switch that module on. 
3. Select More then Maintenance (Figure 3).

4. Select the UV detector (Figure 4).

5. Select Maintenance then Lamp Info (Figure 5).

6. The burn time of a UV lamp is reported (Figure 6).

Infinity LC Companion (Available in selected regions)

1. Select Control then Lamp Info on the detector's section (Figure 7).

   Confirmation: The hours will be set to zero when a new lamp is installed. No reset maneuver is needed.
