This Information Applies To: Agilent ICP-MS MassHunter Software 4.x (Rev C)

Issue

It is best practice to note MassHunter Software Settings before running the Glitch Resetter, renaming MassHunter configuration settings files, or before upgrading/reloading the ICP-MS MassHunter software.

Caution: Maintaining software settings is the responsibility of the user. This guide does not show every possible MassHunter software settings window, and there is no way for Agilent to know what settings a user had previously.

Steps to Follow

This article will cover how to capture the following software settings:

Communication
MassHunter Configuration
Lens Parameters for Semi Auto Tune
Sample Introduction
Plasma Ignition Mode
Ignition Sequence
User Tune (if applicable)
Startup Tasks

Communication (Figure 1)
1. Click the Hardware icon, then the Mainframe image and from the context menu, click Communication.
2. Capture the instrument IP address and Host Name.
3. Click Cancel.

MassHunter Configuration (Figure 2)
1. From the Tools menu, click MassHunter Configuration.
  Note: if the menu bar is not visible, press F10 on the keyboard.
2. Capture the Optional Functions, Data Options, and Report Option tabs.
3. Click Cancel.

Lens Parameters for Semi Auto Tune (Figure 3)
1. From the menu bar, click Tools >Tune > Select Lens Parameters for Semi Auto Tune...
  Note: if the menu bar is not visible, press F10 on the keyboard.
2. Capture the selected parameters.
3. Click Cancel.

Sample Introduction (Figure 4)
1. Click the Settings icon.
2. Click the arrow on the left of Hardware.
3. On the left pane, click Sample Introduction.
4. Capture the Sample Introduction Properties page.
5. On the right of the Autosampler section, click Edit.
6. Capture the settings of each tab of the Configure Autosampler dialog box.
7. Click Cancel.
8. Click Close.

Plasma Ignition Mode (Figure 5)
1. Click the Settings icon.
2. Click the arrow on the left of Hardware.
3. On the left pane, click Plasma.
4. Capture the Plasma Ignition Mode setting.
5. Click Close.

Ignition Sequence (Figure 6)
1. On the right of the Plasma Icon, click the drop-down arrow, and select Configure Ignition Sequence.
2. Capture the ignition sequence settings.
3. Click Cancel.

User Tune - only applicable if using User Tune for Startup, or Global Tune. If you do not use User Tune, continue to step 8.
1. Check if you use User Tune (Figure 7). If User Tune is selected for Configure Ignition Sequence (from step 6), or if you see a globe on the Tune icon, you use User Tune.

2. Click the Tune icon
3. In the Plasma section, select the All Parameters check box.
4. Capture the User Tune settings (Figure 8).

Startup Tasks
1. Click the Plasma icon.
2. In the Startup section, capture the Hardware Settings table and the Set Peripump table.
  - If Select Custom Settings is disabled, click Set PeriPump/Isis under Standard Settings and capture the table (Figure 9).

  - If Select Custom Settings is enabled (the button is orange), click the Set button on the Torch Axis line and capture the table (Figure 10). These settings will need to be inputted for each line when reconfiguring.

After running the Glitch Resetter, renaming configuration settings files or upgrading/reloading the software, enter the settings captured in steps 1 to 8.
