Issue
Instructions on how to vent the Single Quad GC/MSD instrument using OpenLab CDS software.
Background
If the GC/MSD is running and under vacuum, then the analyzer needs to be vented before opening for maintenance, or to shut down the instrument for a long time.
Steps to Follow
Figure 1. Venting your GC/MS using OpenLab CDS software
1. Request tune control icon, 2. Vent/Pump Down, 3. Vent button
Caution: If hydrogen is used as a carrier gas or JetClean system supply, the carrier and JetClean system supply shutoff valves must be closed before turning off the MSD power. If the foreline pump is off, hydrogen will accumulate in the MSD and an explosion may occur. Read Agilent GC/MS Hydrogen Safety before operating the MSD with hydrogen gas

Caution: Ensure that the GC oven and the GC/MSD interface are cool before turning off carrier gas flow to prevent damage to the column.

Turn off the GC and close all the other gas sources.
