This Information Applies To: 5200/5300/5400 Fragment Analyzer, Femto Pulse, Oligo Pro II, ZAG, and their respective controller software
Issue:
A full power cycle can help to recover communication/connection issues of Agilent parallel capillary electrophoresis instruments (5200/5300/5400 Fragment Analyzer, Femto Pulse, Oligo Pro II, and ZAG systems). Communication and connection issues can materialize already during software start as connection failed error messages although the instrument is powered on and connected to the PC (see Figure1).

Also the error Run aborted, Error moving syringe plunger might be resolved by a full power cycle. For more information, see here. |
Steps to follow:
Exit any open programs (controller software, ProSize, etc.).
Power off both the instrument and PC (see instrument power switch in Figure 2, A).
Unplug the instrument and PC power cables from the wall socket before unplugging the cables from the back of the instrument and PC (see AC power connections in Figure 2, A-C).
Unplug the two USBs labeled CCD and HUB from the back of the PC (see Figure 2, C).
Wait for 10 minutes.
Reconnect USB cables to different, nonadjacent ports and reconnect power cables to the instrument and PC.
Power on the PC and instrument and re-open the controller software.
