@Mention

A mention is a reference to a member, a group, or an application within the content. Mentions are added through the content editor and are shown as links to the member or location mentioned. When a mention is added, the member or owner of the location can be notified (based on their notification settings) that they were mentioned to call attention to the content and improve targeting of responses to otherwise wider-targeted content.

Using the @ symbol, you can create a link from a username or group name inside a post, comment or reply. The mention will alert users or group members that they’ve been added to your content and your attention is required. Note that mentioning is optional.

Mention a User

  1. In a comment, new post, post comment, or forum thread/reply, type the username, starting with @, in the post window. A drop-down list of possible matches appears.
  2. Select the correct choice from the drop-down list and click Enter on your keyboard (NOTE: the @mention will not work if you select the name with your mouse.)  After you make your selection, the username name has a blue box around it and the @ symbol is gone.
  3. Hit Enter, or click Share or Post as appropriate to the place where you're mentioning.

Mention a group

  1. In a comment, application post, post comment, or forum thread/reply, type the group name, starting with @, in the post window. A drop-down list of possible matches appears.
  2. Select the correct choice from the drop-down list and click Enter on your keyboard (NOTE: the @mention will not work if you select the name with your mouse.) After you make a selection, the group name has a blue box around it and the @ symbol is gone.
  3. Hit Enter, or click Share or Post as appropriate to the place where you're using the @mention.

IMPORTANT: To receive @mention notifications via email you must Enable Email Options. Please read Customize your Email & Live Alert Notifications and Turn on or off Email Notifications for complete instructions.
