This Information Applies To: Agilent 6000 Series LC/MS systems equipped with Agilent MS-40+ rotary vane pump.
Issue
Regular check of the rough pump fluid level in your MS40+ pump as part of regular 6000 LC/MS system maintenance checks.
Steps to Follow
Warning: The MS40+ pump is hot while running. Take care not to touch any hot surfaces of the pump to prevent injury.

If the rough pump is in a Quiet Cover, remove the front panel of the Quiet Cover so the fluid level sight glass can be seen clearly.
Carefully check that the rough pump fluid level is between the marks for maximum and minimum shown on the rough pump, see Figure 1.
