modernization of the 7890 gas chromatograph

Hello !

The laboratory has a 7890 chromatograph with one evaporator and one FID detector. I want to upgrade it and add a second channel, the same, but for other tasks. I found catalog numbers on the Agilent website, but they are for the 7820 chromatograph, if I order G4328A (Agilent G4328A 0–100 psi Split Splitless EPC Inlet)  and G3462A (Agilent G3461A & G3462A Flame Ionization Detector (Packed and Capillary)), will it fit my chromatograph and the order will have a complete set of EPC module, electronics, tubes, evaporator with all the details? And everything will also be included for the detector - the EPC module, the detector itself, the electronics to it, the tubes? these modules from 7820 will fit to 7890? Thanks,

  • The service manual is Agilent internal.

PN G4328A listed above is for a 7820 GC, not 7890 - it will not be compatible.  For split/splitless inlet you'll need one of the following:

    • G3452A 100 psi split/splitless with EPC, Kit
    • G3460A 150 psi split/splitless inlet with EPC, Kit
    • G3453B Inert flow path, 0—100 psi (Same as G3452A but the top weldment and inlet body are inert-treated)

For the FID you'll need one of:

    • G3461A FID with EPC, Kit adaptable to either packed or capillary columns.
    • G3462A Capillary FID with EPC

Each kit should contain the full inlet or detector assembly including EPC.  I don't believe they can be ordered online - you'll need to contact your local sales representative.

  • Thanks,

I will try to make an order online if I don't get it, I will contact the dealers.

    I just want to clarify.

Did I understand correctly? - if I order a g3452a, then I will receive an EPC module, split/splitless inlet weldmetn assembly, connecting tubes, splyt vent filter assembly, a septa, a liner in the mail order, everything will be in one order, right? and the same will apply to the detector FID? ect. if order a g3462a, then i will receive an FID module assebly (jet,body,ignitor...), an signal board, electrometr, EPC module and connectig tubes? Do I need to order something separately, will everything come assembled?

  • Based on the information I'm seeing, the numbers I listed previously will include the full inlet or detector assembly including the EPC module.  I did find a list of the 7890 options on our website: https://www.agilent.com/en/products/gas-chromatography/gc-systems/7890b-gc-system/ordering-guide.  For those items it was noted "not available online" which means you'll need to talk with one of our sales team to get them.  I recommend having an Agilent service representative visit and install them as well, as they will run a test sample to verify that it's working (like what we do when installing a GC).
