This Information Applies To: Agilent ICP-MS systems (7700/7800/7850/7900/8800/8900)
Issue
Condition new or cleaned ICP-MS skimmer cones and sampler cones by aspirating a Conditioning Solution before use.
Background
Drift up can be a sign of poor cone conditioning. During analysis as the cones become more conditioned through use, they become more inert; and interfere less with analytes, causing the signal to increase over time.
If signal drift during a batch is observed after cleaning or replacing the cones, confirm that the cones have been conditioned sufficiently.
