Troubleshooting for OpenLab CDS Data Analysis Initialization Error at Start Up

Issue

This article describes how to troubleshoot initialization errors during start of OpenLab CDS Data Analysis software.
These troubleshooting steps will recreate the OpenLab CDS user.config file by renaming the original file user configuration file and moving it to another location.

Resolution

1. Restart Windows and log in with an administrative Windows account.
   Do not start OpenLab CDS Control Panel, Acquisition, or Data Analysis applications now.
2. Open the following directory with Windows Explorer (Figure 1):
   C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Agilent_Technologies,_Inc\Agilent.OpenLab.DataAnaly_Url_xxxxxxxxx\ 
   Where xxxxxxxxx can be different combinations of alphanumeric characters, and the folder name of "Admin" at C:\Users\Admin will be replaced with the Windows account name of the user that is currently logged in.
   Note: If “C:\Users\Admin\AppData\” folder is not available, click here to learn how to enable it.

3. In this directory you should find a folder with a folder name ending with 0.0 (e.g. 2.6.00 or 0.0.0.0), see Figure 2.　
   Open this folder and it should contain the user.config file.

4. Rename this file (for example, change to user.config.$$$), or move this file to Windows desktop.
5. Restart Windows and login Windows with an administrative account again.
6. Start OpenLab CDS Control Panel and start Data Analysis software to check that this initialization error is now resolved.
7. If these steps did not resolve this error, please contact your local Agilent Support Representative.

Confirmation: When OpenLab CDS 2.x Data Analysis restarts, a new user.config should be created automatically at the original location if the original user configuration file has been moved or deleted.

Steps to display hidden folders

1. Open Windows Control Panel (Figure 3)

2. Click File Explorer Options. (Figure 3)
3. Click the View tab and select option Show hidden files, folders, and drives. (Figure 4)

4. Clear the check box Hide extensions for known file types. (Figure 4).
5. Click OK to close window.
