When I insert my temperature probe into the sample, will it interfere with the light beam and affect my photometric data?
No. The temperature probe is designed to sit out of the light path up against the cuvette wall.
If the Temperature Probe electrical connector is wet, what can I do?
Avoid ever wetting the connector. If the connector becomes wet immediately dry by dabbing with a lint free cloth.
What can I do if the stirring doesn’t start at my target speed?
If stirring doesn’t start or has stopped (for example after removing/replacing a cuvette), turn off stirring in the Cary UV software, then restart at the required speed. Ensure that stirring starts-up and continues as desired by watching the movement of the stir bar during operation . If stirring stops, turn off the stirring in Cary UV software and repeat the sequence to find a more reliable lower stirring speed.
Stirrer startup sequence:
- Turn off stirring in the method setup tab in a method.
- Turn stirring back on.
- Enter a stir speed of 400 rpm.
- Observe operation and continue if OK.
- Increase speed to 600 rpm.
- Observe operation and continue if OK.
- Enter the target speed.
Other:
Consider viscosity of the sample and its dependence on temperature.
Test with water at room temperature.
Run stirring speed self-test to confirm operation.
If my cell or block don’t reach temperature, what can I do?
Ensure the laboratory environmental conditions are met as specified in the Site Preparation Guide. Ensure that the cuvette is fully seated in the cell holder, that the probe is submerged to at least the minimum submersion depth of 5 mm and that the sample compartment lid is closed. The system is air-cooled so ensure the fan filter on the module is clean and air is free to circulate. See the maintenance section on how to remove and clean the fan inlet.
