All 6400 series LCMS have a calibrant delivery system that supplies calibrant to the nebulizer/ion source at a steady rate. Usually about 7-10 drops/min.
I believe the flow rate is around ~50ul/min as long as the N2 is adjust properly (13psi) and we are using the Agilent supplied tubing from the divert valve to the nebulizer.
as Mitch described, the average volume of the calibration solution is around that 10 drops / min. However, the actual flow rate depends on several factors - Tightness of the calibration bottle and the screw cap. - Permeability of the CDS valve. - Condition of the rotor seal in the MS Selection Valve. - Condition of the peek capillary to the nebulizer. - permeability of the nebulizer. If the Calbrant is under-promoted, the algorithm of the Tune routine becomes the Multiplier voltage increase nnecessarily to the minimum abundance of the target mass. This usually leads to faster wear of the multiplier. The condition of the nebulizer can be checked very well with the G1960-67470 Nebulizer Adjustment Kit.
