ELSD exhaust to fume hood?

A fume hood does supply negative pressure, doesn't it?

Officially we say:

• The exhaust from the instrument (13mm Black PVC) must be extracted to a fume hood or similar solvent disposal unit.
• Ensure the exhaust hose has an upward slope from the ELSD so that any condensed solvent is collected in the waste bottle at the front of the unit and to prevent it accumulating in the tubing.
• A mild vacuum is required. A strong vacuum needs to be avoided.

Thank you for the reply. This makes sense, and after speaking with my colleague, his concern is more if we put the exhaust into a fume hood and people are in and out of the hood, will the inconsistent pressure lead to poor signal from the ELSD?

I don't see any issues, if you place the exhaust tube somewhere by the rear panel of the fume hood.

I should elaborate too about another uncertainty; the ELSD is some distance (~1.2 M) from the fume hood and we would need to run exhaust tubing around the edge of the lab into the fume hood. From your first reply, I obviously want to avoid condensation trap, so if I have a 'cold-finger' style trap after the exhaust then tubing from the trap to the fume hood, would this be ok?
