Column for metabolites

Hello, I need a column for HPLC to evaluate metabolites from E coli, such as melibiose.
Citric acid, Glucose, Rhamnose, IPTG, Glycerol, Acetate, Ethanol and I am also interested in evaluating phosphate, does anyone have an idea if there are any specific columns to recommend?

THANKS!

  • Hi Andy,

I am now using Aminex HPLC_87H Column 300x 7.8, but I would like to see if by using other columns I can improve the method we currently have in use. In particular I would be interested in the detection of phosphate. I am considering trying different columns:

    • NUCLEOGEL SUGAR 810 H, 8-10 µm, 300x7.8 mm
    • InfinityLab Poroshell 120 HILIC, 4.6 x 250 mm, 4 µm,
    • Organic Acid Length x ID : 250 x 8 mm
    • and possibly the one you recommended Agilent Hi-Plex H, 7.7 × 300 mm, 8 μm

.. of these I want to understand which one(s) to order and test..

    Best,

    Chiara

  • HI Chiara

Of all of those columns, the HILIC is the most different to the others and might offer quite different selectivity.  Whether it would retain all of the analytes you mention, I cannot say.

    Kindest regards

    Andy
