 Im working on GC MS 7890a with 5975 MSD and it is showing error as Instrumental control --Make directory failed

Hello! I realize this is an old post but wanted to provide more details in case other users encounter the "Make directory failed" error in the future. 
 This is captured in Software Status Bulletins (SSB's) in a few places. 
 The solution, if you encounter this error, is never use Windows/DOS special characters in filenames. No vertical bars, colons, etc.
