AAS Furnace

The attached video is captured during analysis by graphite tube atomizer. At drying temperature the solution sparked on heating inside graphite tube and give lower absorbance value. Specifically first atomisation among replicate injection show sparking problems. Sometimes give good results by same instrument method. How could solve the problem to obtained consistent absorbance?

  • you have to rearrange the furnace program. in the video, it can be seen that before the ashing stage there is still solvent so that a splash (analyte spreads) appears which causes the absorbance to be inconsistent. I suggest increasing the drying time, make sure before the ashing stage, the solvent is dry. you can follow the recommendations from Agilent
