Varian 720 torch ignition failure

Question

Get a WS asynchronous error : F F60304 The torch ignition has failed when starting a Varian 720 OES

The torch lights and stays on for about 5 seconds then shuts down with this error.

I can not find reference in the help to resolve this.

It could also be a leak in the sample introduction system (connectors, tubings, etc...). I recommend to disassemble the whole sample introduction system and reassemble it with new connectors, tubings, spray chamber, nebulizer, torch, etc... just to see if it's work again. If you have an autosampler, i suggest to take it off for the diagnosis. Do you have an Argon Humidifier? If it's the case, you can take it off too for the diagnosis.

Usually this occurs if the looker is not seeing the plasma, have a look at the looker inside the torch compartment and cut off the end of the looker and then strip of some of the installation so you have about 5mm of fibre optics showing

Scott, There could be a few reasons for this error. For the fastest response, I would suggest you call the 800-227-5770 if you are in the US. Is the torch clean and dry? Are the plasma and auxillary gas lines connected to the torch correctly? How many filament hours on (see the details tab on the Instrument page)? Any other errors? Tina
