I am working with an Agilent 8860 operating a DB-624 UI (30m x 0.25mm x 1.4um) column with nitrogen carrier gas and split inlet (20:1). The system was shut down for approximately 1 year, and…
Hi, I am wondering if the FID detector requires nitrogen make up flow while in standby mode or is it sufficient to have the FID idle at a temperature above 100 to protect it in downtime.
Thanks.
If I run a standard of n-alkanes ranging from C10-C40 on GC/FID, with each component being the same concentration, should each peak have the same area?
Hello PKSJ ,
As per the Maintenance manual of the 7890, you can bake out the FID with the column installed and uninstalled as well. If the column is uninstalled, you will need additional parts.
Page 229 in the manual below has the bakeout procedure…
I have a problem with my FID on a HP-4890d Gas Cromatograph.
The FID was working as normal, then the FID didn't start, so I checked the gas flows, and the H2 didn't come out from FID.
I suspect maybe the Hydrogen pipe line is clogged or the on/off…
Hi
Remove FID Block assy by removing screws and then check signal is zero or not.
If zero then clean jet n check fid block.
If not zero, same previous signal then either electrometer or fid signal faulty..
Hi, I know this is an old thread, but I am having a very similar issue. I am wondering how did you know to replace the interconnect spring rod? How did you know this was the issue, and that it was not instead an issue with the FID board or the electrometer…
Hi all,
I have a 6890A GC with a FID. We recently acquired the instrument and I have been running standards up to test methods. I have been getting signals that seem suspiciously low.
I am injecting Matreya Bacterial CP FAME mix (C11-C20 methyl esters…
Hi Agilent,
Due to helium shortage, we need to change carrier gas for our GC-FID. Most documentation for Agilent suggests either H2 or N2, and the Chemstation configuration shows those options as well.
We are considering using argon, however, I…
Good day,
Do you have a method for analyzing ethanol on 8860 or 6890 FID GC? The product is water based and has ethanol values below 1%. I have a DB-Wax UI column and cannot use ether extraction as the ether has an "ethanol" peak.
Thank you
