This Information Applies To: Agilent 6000 Series LC/MS systems
Issue
The article details the correct tuning mix to use according to your LC/MS system and the source type installed on your system. In cases where Agilent tuning mixes need to be diluted, detailed instructions are also provided.
Requirements
Tuning is the optimization of electrical elements in a system that affect ion transmission and peak shape using a mixture of known compounds. Tuning mix containers should be kept in a cool, well-ventilated area and have a shelf life of one year.
Items Required
Agilent has five different tuning mixes available depending on your application and source type:
Steps to Follow
Single Quadrupole Systems
Tuning mix used for single quadrupole 6100 and LC/MSD systems depends on model and ion source type.

* May require dilution.
Depending on system model and tune type, the tuning mix may need to be diluted for Q-TOF systems.
Dilute the tune mix when there is an error message that instructs you to do so, or when the tune report shows calibration abundances greater than 750,000 counts, as shown in the following picture.

See the Calibration and Tuning section in the MassHunter Acquisition Online Help for dilution instructions for 6200 TOF and 6500 Series Q TOF systems. This information can be accessed from the Help menu in MassHunter, or by pressing the F1 key in any relevant MassHunter Workstation window or dialog box.
The Agilent Knowledge Portal article also gives detailed instructions on how to dilute the tune mix depending on the source type installed on the system.
