How to Trigger a Shutdown in the LC After Completion of the OpenLab ChemStation Sequence?

Issue

The pump can be set to a low rate after completing a sequence using a shutdown method in the sequence. However, to avoid solvent overconsumption and lamp wear-out, the OpenLab ChemStation software can be programmed to shut down the pump and the lamp at the end of the sequence. 

Steps to Follow

1. In the Method and Run Control view, from the main menu, click Sequence > Sequence Parameters. 
2. Select the Post-Sequence command/macro check box.
3. From the drop-down menu, select the desired shutdown command. (Figure 1)
4. Click OK

The default commands for Post-Sequence Shutdown are the following:

• Turn Lamp Off. Turns off all detector lamps.
• Turn Pump Off. Turns off all pumps.
• Turn Instrument Standby. Sets the complete instrument to standby. Turns off all lamps, pumps, and the thermostat.
• Shut Instrument Down. Will execute the Shutdown.mac macro. This macro is customizable by the user. It is valuable for setting action that cannot be accomplished by the default commands.
  • If the macro is not modified, it will give the same results as Turn Instrument Standby.
