This Information Applies To: Agilent demountable torches
The Agilent 5000 series ICP-OES instruments can be fitted with a demountable, semi-demountable, or bonded torch. The demountable and semi-demountable torches can be disassembled for easy cleaning. The demountable torch allows quick change over of the injector tube for different sample matrices.

Steps tp follow
Warning: The torch and torch compartment become warm during instrument operation and remain so for some time after the plasma has been switched off. Allow the plasma compartment to cool for at least five minutes before accessing the plasma compartment. Allow the torch to cool completely before touching the outer tube or attempting to dismantle the torch.
Remove the torch from the ICP-OES as per Cleaning the ICP-OES Torch, Acid and Aqueous Matrices.
Remove the locking nut and the injector from the demountable torch.
|Caution: To prevent damage to the torch, always take care when handling or storing it. To prevent damage to the instrument, do not use the torch if it is damaged.|
Remove the glass tube set and the rubber torch seal.
If the rubber seal is stuck to the torch body, gently ply off with a flat blade screwdriver.
