Agilent 8453 Problem with a HP 89052B Sipper running different direction randomly

I have a GMP Agilent 8453 UV-Vis (F/W A.03.90) with a HP 89052B Sipper attached via UV-Vis Chemstation B.05.04.
Randomly while running a sequence the sipper will run in the opposite direction to that specified in the method. This has happened at random points in several runs.
The on-screen sipper icon in Chemstation shows the correct direction of rotation.
Not direction specific. It happens when the method is set to clockwise or anti-clockwise.
This also has been seen when selecting the direction manually through Chemstation.

Have any of you seen this problem before? Any idea why?

  • It appears that you’re experiencing an issue with your GMP Agilent 8453 UV-Vis system, specifically related to the HP 89052B Sipper running in the opposite direction during sequence runs.

Here are things you might consider investigating:

    1. Communication Troubleshooting:

    2. Method Configuration:

      • Verify that the method settings in your Chemstation software are correctly configured. Double-check the direction specified in the method (clockwise or anti-clockwise).
      • Confirm that the correct method is being applied during your sequence runs.
    3. Hardware and Connections:

      • Inspect the physical connections between the Agilent 8453 UV-Vis system and the HP 89052B Sipper. Loose connections or faulty cables could cause unexpected behavior.
      • Ensure that the sipper is securely attached and properly aligned.
  • "The on-screen sipper icon in Chemstation shows the correct direction of rotation." This makes me think it's a connection. Look for loose, faulty, corroded cables.
