MassHunter Unknowns Analysis - Maximum number of peaks

Hi,

I have a question regarding the Maximum number of peaks in MassHunter Unknowns Analysis under Edit method->Peak detection tab.

I have noticed that as I increase the number in this field (see photo below), I get more results and I'm not sure I understand why. I thought the software deconvolutes all detectable signals and if possible, give an ID based on the defined library. How is it useful to define the maximum number of peaks? is there a maximal value for this field? If I leave it empty, it will give me all signals detected?

The idea behind this setting is to allow you to limit your results to the largest x components, without having to worry about the range of your area or heights. So, if you only care about the 5 largest components, whether they are over 500,000 counts or only over 5,000, then you will only get the 5 largest components.

If you want all components, then set the Rank by: to None. This will disable the Maximum number of peaks entry.
