Analysis of HAA5 in drinking water with 6495C.

Analysis of HAA5 in drinking water with a LOD of 6 ng/ml accroding to european/german law. Trichloroacetic acids has very different optimzed iFunnel values than the other haloacetic acids, which make it hard to combine all in one method. Does anyone have a single method for all 5 HAAs? I´m working with 0,05 formic acid and 0,5 mmol/l NH4F (A) and methanol (B). The injection volume is 25 µl.

All advices are welcome.

  • Hello. I’ve not used a 6495C for HAA analysis. I assume that for trichloroacetic acid analysis you are monitoring the [CCl3COO]- > [CCl3]- SRM transition or 160.9>116.9, and this has very different optimized iFunnel values than the other haloacetic acids. Have you tried monitoring the [CCl3]- > [Cl]- SRM transition, 116.9>35.0. I don’t know but this may have similar optimized iFunnel values to the other haloacetic acids. Also, I’ve used NH4F, and I try to keep the concentration to 0,2 mmol/L or below.
