I am developing a APCI method in negative ionization. At the current scan rate of 1 spec/second the peaks are rough. I was considering increasing the rate to collect more spectra across the peaks. Any suggestions on how high to go?

You want to have between 12-18 datapoints over the chromatographic peak. With a base-to-base peak width of 6 seconds, which is typical for RPLC, 3 Hz is a good starting point.
