Possible contamination of quadrupole

Hello, we recently had a PM on our triple quadrupole 6495C.  We noticed brown spots on the ends of the quads and also on the inside of the quads.  We are not sure if this is sample or rust.  We run serum, plasma, and dried blood spot samples.  Could this contamination affect the electric fields coming from the quadrupoles?

  • If this is the first quad I think you should care about sample compatibility with instrument,, you can also use cotton swap and isopropanol to clean .. if the brown spots still appear ,, i prefer to change the quad and contact the application support to check the validity of the sample to be introduced to the current system as you need more sample preparation steps
