Post run Macro/Command for cleaning GC-Inlet - MSD ChemStation

Hello everybody,

We have a GC(7890A)/MS(5975C)-System with MSD Chemstation-Software.

I want to write a macro as a post run.

It is possible, to write a post run macro or command for the MSD Chemstation software,
which automatically heats the GC-MMI inlet for cleaning after an injection/run
(for instance: inlet temperature: 300 °C for 5 minutes, flow 1,0 ml/min) ?

I have no idea how. Can someone help me.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards.

  • I'm sure there is a way. not sure how.

But what you can do is a "dummy" injection with a low volatile solvent for a 5 minute run. Have the 5 minute run at 300 degrees with flow at 1 mL/min as a separate method. So sequencing you can:

    1) run normal sample - method A

    2) "post-run" run low volatile solvent - method B (300 degrees, 1 mL/min for 5 minutes- maybe high oven temp just to clear the column)

    3) run normal sample - method A etc...
