Refinery GAs Analyzer

Running a refinery  gas analyzer and getting a lot of variance in the response of all the peaks on the FID.  The TCD channel is very reproducible.  The gas is injected by a valve with a 0.1ml sample loop. All the valves are turning properly.  I have leak checked all of the connections and replaced liner, gold seal, septum, and column ferrule and none of that has helped.  Any ideas on what I should try next?  Thanks!

  • Hello,

We also have RGA analyzers, 7890A models.

If the Gas Sampling Valve (GSV) connected to the Split inlet are controlled by settings of On and Off times in the Event table, then please check that Split inlet gas saver time is set after the GSV has swithed to On position, or even better, when GSV has switched back to Off again. We use GSV on periods of at least 0.50 min.

Also, check if there are any leaks in the Split Inlet or at capillary columns connections.
