Method download failed and "Instrument Actual" not work

Hello, we recently get GC 7820A with FID. We try to use the Openlab CDS to control the instrument. The remote control panel works well, it can change the parameters of the instrument, but wen we use the Openlab, it can only show that instrument is not ready. The panel called "Instrument actual" shows nothing even though we checked all of the options. After we setup the method and click run method, the method is not downloaded to the instrument. When we press the "start" button on the GC, the software did response and display start. However, the time elape did not change and remained 0.

Does any one have the similar problems?

  • In my experience, usually when a method fails to download to a 7820A GC it means that one of the zones on the GC is in a faulted state. This does not always get reported in the instrument actuals in ChemStation, so the best way to double-check this is by using the 7820A Remote Controller software which is provided on disk 2 of the GC and GC/MS User Manuals and Tools disk set that comes with the GC. After you connect to the GC in the remote controller software, click on the status button and see if there is an inlet pressure shutdown, FID flame out, etc... which might be preventing a new method from being downloaded.
