Please Help! Broad peak shape

Hi, I'm having problem with the very broad peak shape on the splitless injection. tried different types of splitless liners, replace the septum and syringe, trimmed the column. tried to change some parameters in the instrument method that is not on my method. still nothing changes. any advice? Hi SaraD,

Has this method worked for you in the past? At first glance, your oven temp isn't hot enough to keep 1-octanol in the gas phase. The boiling point of your analyte is 195C, and your oven is only going up to 135C. Somewhere in the 30 m of column, your sample is partially condensing and isn't effectively moved by the mobile phase. I would try to run your oven temp up to 225C and see if that improves your peak shape. You could also try to increase your starting oven temp if there isn't anything of interest between the hexane and 1-octanol.
