Molsieve Separation for O2 and N2

We used to have a clear O2 N2 separation previously. But when we slightly increased the temperature program during the O2 N2 separation, O2 peak disappears. Is it merging with N2 due to increase in temperature? Kindly have some light on this.

  • Increasing the temperature before the separation is done will definitely decrease the resolution, but this sounds like a  leakage problem where a bit of moisture (or any other polar component) will change the mole sieve column's selectivity. To give better advise we would need a list with all components analyzed and the temp. program. And seemingly the switching diagram.

If you flush the complete system with oxygen at high temperatures, you will oxidize the Q phase partially and get all kinds of polar components coming off (up to benzaldehyde).
