7890B/FID Empower issue...

Hi Squawkbert,

I updated the tags for better visibility. Driver in wrong state is usually an error when software is trying to send commands to the GC while it is doing something. Is the GC in pre run? Do you have the version of the 7890 driver? You would have to check with Waters on what driver is compatible with the software version you are using.

I think the issue is with the GC. It can't/won't remember its assigned IP, GW or SW addresses.

I re-entered them, power cycled it (because the GC panel says that it will not remember them until this has been done) - and they all came back as "0" again.

I re-re-entered them and just rebooted. It zeroed everything out again!!

Are you able to ping it with the static IP address?

If you were communicating with DHCP enabled previously, then the fact that all of the network setpoints reverting to all zeroes when you power cycled means that the GC is not being leased an IP address from your network. This could point to there being a network issue.

It is enabled (and was before, I think) – shutting it off now…

W/ DHCP off, it at least remembers its addresses after a reboot.

Still not talking to the acquisition PC  yet.

Agreed. This may be the fault of new port-scanning anti-exploit software.

After another reboot, and shutting off certain services and processes, they’re talking again.

I think our only problem at the moment is a hardware issue (EPC failing to shut makeup gas OFF when called for) that prevents FID ignition… we’re putting in a call for service to resolve that.

I’ll be working to resolve user error (Comments Edited by Moderator) and sort anti-malware malware issues.
