I'm hoping to remove an FID detector from a 6890N to a 7890A. I noticed that the back panels for these instruments are different. Is it possible to move the FID into the newer GC? Will some sort of adapter be necessary for the flow control manifold?

It's not possible. The EPC module and the electronic panel are different. Only the FID base assembly changeable. See the picture.
