The signal intensity for the 6890 GC is in pA (picoamps) but the signal intensity for the 5890 GC is in counts for area. Is there a way to convert between the two?

That's interesting. I wonder if there are any differences to be expected between a 6890N and a 7890 GC when using Chemstation on the 6890N and Openlab 2.3 on the 7890 with FID?
Also, would there be any differences in the signal to noise and dynamic range between a 7890A/5975C GC-MS and a 7890B/5977B GC-MS both usign Openlab?

For the rest of the questions, I will defer to other respondents in the Agilent Community. I have not seen any details on other comparisons of instruments and SW. Suffice it to say the software does not affect the instruments dynamic range.
