Peak tailing in GC

What are the factors affecting peak tailing in GC ?

Parents
  • When we actually have peak tailing, it is usually caused by the last thing we did, such as:

    1) ran a very dirty sample - need to clip column and/or change liner

    2) ran a sequence of dirty samples - see above

    3) just changed a liner - used wrong liner or active liner/wool or there is a leak

    4) just clipped the column - column set too low, usually, in inlet.  Could be too high.

    5) just clipped the column - ferrule particles in column.  Maybe septum bit if you slide one onto your column.
