I was experiencing ghost peaks in my water blank shots so I decided to do some maintenance. This included a new S/SL liner and septum, removing the first inch or two of the column, FID disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning of the jet, and reassembly. Now…
Hello,
Are you sure the end tip of the PLOT column ends up (and 2 mm withdrawn) inside the FID Jet?
Any problems when igniting the FID?
FID Jet could be contaminated from PLOT stationary phase particles ..

Hi,
I removed Heater/sensor assy from Back channel and put in front channel FID and again reconfigure FID.
Upto now, it's working.
Means Heater/sensor assy was faulty.
But still, one thing I am unable to understand that Fid block was heating earlier…
Flames goes off on lower flow means, there is some restriction in jet or FID detector is not cleaned.
Do you have any idea or practice of opening FID and to clean. If yes then do otherwise don't do any cleaning..
I can share procedure if u want
System: The GC is an 8890 with TCD in series of two FIDs in parallel (switched via valve). FID 1 has methanizer while FID 2 doesn't.
Had to put the system on standby for 3 weeks over Christmas so kept carrier flowing through the system with all heated…
