Which Fluorescent Dyes can be Detected with the AriaMx?

Issue

The AriaMx has the capacity to accommodate six optical modules, and the scanning optics configuration ensures distinction between fluorescent dyes and individual samples. Agilent has not only validated the optical modules for the dyes that they are named after, but has also tested the compatibility of some other fluorescent dyes.

Resolution

 Which fluorescent dyes are compatible with each of the optical modules is detailed in Table 1.

Caution: TAMRA and TET have been tested and found to work well with the existing CY3 module. Cross-talk for TAMRA to ROX is about 2%, but can be compensated with the cross-talk correction settings in the software. For instructions on how to change the cross-talk settings see chapter 2 of the Aria Real-Time PCR Software User Manual.

If you wish to use your AriaMx to detect a fluorescent dye that is not listed in Table 1, and therefore has not been validated by Agilent this may still be possible. However, Agilent it can't guarantee that the AriaMx can detect fluorescent dyes that are not validated. The optical module excitation and emission wavelengths are detailed in the table in the photo roll on the AriaMx product page, as well as in Table 2. To determine whether the fluorescence dye of interest might work, you can use a spectral overlay tool.
