This Information Applies To: Agilent LC Systems Issue While it is possible to combine modules from different HPLC series such as 1100, 1200, 1260 or 1290 series to create a functioning LC system, there are some important topics to consider. Resolution When combining instruments of different series there are several firmware, hardware, software, and operating scale considerations. Firmware Agilent releases LC firmware in sets for modules, which have been tested for interoperability...

How To Find More Information About the Agilent Gas Chromatograph micro-ECD Wipe Test Kit

Answer

This Information Applies To: Agilent GC Systems with Micro-ECD.

Issue

The Wipe Test is an annual test that performed by end user of the micro-ECD (Micro Electron Capture Detector or uECD) to help ensure radioactive safety when using the detector.

Customers sometime contact Agilent about the part number as well as the instructions on how to perform the wipe test for their GC equipped with a micro-ECD. This information is provided below.

Steps to follow

  1. Navigate to Agilent.com website.
  2. Type in the key word "micro-ECD Wipe Test Kit" in the search box.
  3. Capture the part number for the test kit, i.e. "18713-60050"
  4. Review the Agilent Electron Capture Detector Wipe Test Kit Instructions" (part number 5950-3586) before performing the micro-ECD wipe test.
 Warning
Warning:
Failure to follow the instructions to perform this test could affect the test result, which may cause the instrument operator to be exposed to unwanted level of radiation.
The instrument could also be out of compliance if this test is not performed to make sure that radiation levels are at a safe level to operate.
