Issue 

Starting a single injection in OpenLab ChemStation

Requirements

• ChemStation installed and the instrument is correctly configured in the OpenLab Control Panel. See the following article for an example of configuring an LC instrument.
• The required analytical method has been created and has been loaded into ChemStation (see the article How to Create a Method in OpenLab Chemstation).
• The instrument is in a Ready or Idle state.

Steps to Follow 

1. In the top ChemStation toolbar, click Method >Load Method… > select the analytical method required for your sample analysis.
2. In the top ChemStation Toolbar, click RunControl >Sample Info…

3. Fill or select the specifications you need for the following options (See Figure 2): 
   1. Select a File Path by selecting the option with the drop-down menu.
   2. Add a Subdirectory to store the data in if necessary.
   3. Give a Signal Name, which will be the file name. The signal name can be made up of predefined variables, shown by the <blue text> fields. Clicking the arrow on the right of that box shows a list of premade options that the user can select.
      The user can also insert free text into this field if necessary.
   4. Select the Error Method that the instrument should automatically load in case a method error occurs. It can be a standby method to save solvent and power in case of an error.
   5. Enter a Sample Location. If left completely blank, it will do an instrument blank (run the method without injecting anything with the sampler).
   6. Enter an Injection Volume if different from the injection volume already specified in the method.
   7. Enter a Multiplier, a Dilution, and ISTD amount if necessary.

4. Once all the required information is correct, click Run Method to start the single injection.
   • If you want to start the injection later then click OK. When it is time to run the injection, from the top Toolbar click RunControl >Run Method.
