Standard UV Flow Cell (Part no: G1314-60186) Pressure limit.

Question

Hi Everyone, I have a query on flow cell pressure limit in Agilent. Agilent UPLCs are designed upto 1,300 bar however, the Standard UV Flow cell (Part no: G1314-60186) itself has a limit of 40 bar? How does that work. Can someone explain please. Thanks.

1300 bar is the maximum system pressure (the pressure sensor is located in the pump), but after the column, there is no longer any high pressure. The 40 bar is the backpressure limit, so pressure coming onto the cell outlet. This could be because of a blocked or kinked waste tubing or something after the VWD, e.g. an MS, an ELSD, an FLD...
