How does iLab determine the default recipient for invoices when a primary contact isn't set?

Hello,

I am searching for some clarification – if a person is not identified as a primary contact, how do the invoices automatically default? I encountered one where when I clicked on it, it was the PI and others where it was a financial manager? How does it pick which financial manager?

Thanks!

  • Hi -

    Good question.

The default recipient is the PI. To assign a new Primary Contact, go to the “Members” tab within the lab page, click on the “edit pencil” icon next to the member’s name, check the box “Core Financial Contact?”, and press Save.

Make sure only one member is listed as "core financial contact," and this user will be listed on all future charges that are generated.

Please note that if the primary financial contact is changed, the change will take effect for new charges generated, and all old charges that have been generated and are unbilled will reference the previous primary contact.

More information can be found in the following iLab Help Site article: Managing a Group: Manage Memberships.

In conjunction with marking a core financial contact, you can also mark someone as a lab primary contact in the “Communication Settings” section within the “Group Settings” tab of the lab page.

Please let us know if there any questions,
